NC State has created a new campus out of former woods about a mile south of the main campus.
On this large campus engineering students intermingle with private businesses research workers
in a collaborative environment meant to stimulate partnerships. The campus is a collection
of mid rise buildings containing offices and labs for both private companies (like Red Hat) and for
students and faculty.
One part of this project is under some jeapordy. Craig Davis a major local developer is in lawsuits
with Comstock homes. The dispute is over the lack of development of the North Shore residential
development. Very little has been built thus far, and the development team has, as a result, defaulted
on a loan. Who's responsibile is under debate and may slow future work on this part of the project.
