Shaw University is to build a research extension primarily focused on race and public health issues. The $4.3 million, three story extension to the Roberts Science Building will hold a library, classroom and lab space and offices for about 20 researchers. It will add 30,927 sq. ft. to the downtown campus, at the corner of Wilmington and South Streets. This project is approved by both the planning commission and the city council.
